Radio Interview:

The Sound of Jugendstil – New Series in Wiesbaden

Cordula Hacke talks with Alf Haubitz about Music from the Jugendstil Era.

The Wiesbaden Museum houses one of the largest and most beautiful collections of Jugendstil works, donated by Ferdinand Wolfgang Neess. What could be more fitting than to also play and hear the music of that era there?

Neess, an enthusiastic and accomplished amateur flutist, loved music just as much as art. Now Cordula Hacke, professor of piano and chamber music, and founder and managing director of the international flute competition held every two years at the Wiesbaden Jugendstil Museum, has had the idea for a new concert series to alternate with the competition in the biennial rhythm. Starting in early October, music from the early 20th century will resound in Klang Nouveau. But what will be heard?
